Strong start for Aussie teams at the Asian Beach Volleyball Championships

Australia had 4 of 5 teams in action at the first day of the Asian Beach Volleyball Championships yesterday, being held in Satun, Thailand.

Mariafe Artacho del Solar and Taliqua Clancy don’t play until today (Wednesday) when they will play 2 pool matches against Thailand and Malaysia.

Australia's other women’s team, Nikki Laird and Britt Kendall won their pool match yesterday beating Vanuatu 2-0 and play Thailand today.

In the men, Tim Dickson and Marcus Ferguson recorded two wins against New Zealand and Thailand, both 2-0, and Damien Schumann and Cole Durant also won two pool games against Thailand and Oman, both 2-0. Chris McHugh and Zac Schubert beat Japan 2-0 but lost 1-2 to Kazakhstan. Each of the men’s teams has another pool match to play today.
