VOLLEYBALL AUSTRALIA APPOINTS FORMER FOX SPORTS JOURNALIST STEVE HART - MEDIA DIRECTOR
Volleyball Australia is delighted to announce it has secured the services of experienced television sports journalist, presenter and commentator Steve Hart to the newly created role of Media Director.
After 20 years in the television sports news business Hart says he is “extremely thrilled to be offered this opportunity to help lift the profile and tell the story of a sport that has been a well-kept secret for far too long”.
“We all remember the Sydney 2000 Olympics when Natalie Cook and Kerri Pottharst gripped a nation by winning us a Beach Volleyball gold medal. Well it’s time the nation fell in love with not only Beach Volleyball all over again but got to know more about the incredible spectacle that is the Indoor game”
“This is a sport that has so much to offer on many levels. Not just an exciting action packed experience on the court but has always been what AFL and other sports are now pursuing and that is to be a true gender equal sport, where men and women participate and compete on level terms.” says Hart.
Volleyball Australia President Craig Carracher says “The appointment of an experienced all round media sports professional like Steve is a real coup for Volleyball in Australia.”
“Coming from an outsiders perspective we believe Steve, with his experience along with his passion, drive and enthusiasm is the perfect person to tell our story to all sports fans across the nation.”
“We have spent the last 4 years building up a comprehensive calendar of national and international events that is the envy of many other sports as well as relaunching and rebranding our national team, the Volleyroos. Now is the time to tell that story”
“With the Commonwealth games on the Gold Coast next year and the Tokyo Olympics in 2020, Volleyball is ready to find its rightful place in the hearts and minds of all Australian sports fans” says Caraccher.
The next big event and the first under the new appointment of Steve Hart as VA Media Director will be Vollyfest on Sydney’s Manly Beach in late November.
“This is an important time in the sports growth and I can’t wait to be a part of this exciting time ahead for Volleyball in Australia” says Hart..
