
The Australian Women’s Volleyroos have been bolstered by the return of 4 key players for the Asian Championships which get underway this weekend in South Korea.
The Women’s Volleyroos head into the Asian titles after finishing 6th in the VTV Cup in Vietnam, defeating Altay VC ( Kazakhstan) 3-0 in their final game of the tournament. Jen Sadler top scored with 19 points.
The Australian team was without regular skipper Kell Lean, who will also be missing from the Asian Championships. In her absence Jaimee-Lee Morrow stepped into the role. “ The VTV Cup was another great opportunity for us to compete against some impressive international teams. It helped us prepare for the Asian Championships.”
Julia Dunning and Harriet Gillson made their Australian senior debuts in the VTV Cup. Coming back into the team for the Asian titles will be Kat Janssen, Danusia Sipa-Borgeaud, Caitlin Bettaney and +100 gamer Beth Carey.
The Volleyroos take on Kazakhstan in their opening game, their pool also includes Japan and India.
Australian coach Marty Collins “ We will do our due diligence on Kazakhstan and be as prepared as possible” he added “We must play the match as aggressively as possible in order to get the result that we want “.
